Many of us rely on customer reviews of products when we’re trying to decide what to buy or choose between similar items from different brands. Hearing from “real people” can feel much more valuable and authentic than believing whatever the professional marketing language is trying to sell you. But what if you could be the person who helps others make these decision—and score some free products for yourself in the process? Target offers two such programs in which it sends free products to participants in exchange for an honest review. Here’s a little about each one.
Samplers is a product-experience platform where subscribers get to try different products from brands that have partnered up with them to send free products for an honest review. Recently, Target has partnered up with Sampler to send Target Insider Boxes to reviewers containing products based on the demographic and answers from the questionnaire that subscribers need to fill out to sign up.
Keep in mind that just because you don’t qualify for anything at first after signing up, it doesn’t mean you won’t qualify for something later. Check back in at a later time to see if you match a product that Target wants reviews for. Once you’re approved and match with products, expect a mystery box in your mail anywhere from two to three weeks. You can check out Sampler’s FAQ here.
Hey, Bullseye is Target’s official product-experience platform. It works similarly to Sampler, except it is a little harder to get into the program because you must be invited in. Target looks for costumers who regularly write reviews on their website, and sends those people invitations to participate in Hey, Bullseye.
Once you’re in the program, though, you’ll be sent products by Target for free in exchange for writing honest reviews on their website. The reviews will be unedited (but need to follow Target’s Review Writing Guidelines) and will appear on the respective product’s profile. Target says it hopes the reviews will help other consumers make more educated decisions when making their purchases.
