Holiday help is here for last-minute shoppers. If you still need to complete your holiday shopping list, we have good news for you. Tuesday, December 14th (next week) marks Free Shipping Day and hundreds of online retailers will offer free shipping on thousands of gift ideas. Just in time for Christmas shipping cutoff deadlines.

The backstory is that in 2008, one internet entrepreneur noticed online sales dropped dramatically after Cyber Monday. In order to boost sales, National Free Shipping Day was started and the event earned $764M in sales, which is impressive given the year. Now, over 300 stores participate each year. You can find the full list of stores participating here.

Do All Stores Offer Free Shipping?

While not all stores participate in this event, you will notice many of your favorite retailers on the list. Some online retailers say they participate in this event, but they offer free shipping on order minimums. For example, Kohl’s free shipping is only for orders of $75 or more, which is the same as any other time of year.

Is Free Shipping Day a Good Deal?

Don’t waste your money on Tuesday by trying to hit a free shipping minimum if you weren’t planning to spend that much in the store.

Instead, look for options for free in-store pickup or try to find that same product at a different retailer. Retailers such as Target, Best Buy and Kohl’s offer free in-store and curbside pick up for in-stock items for same-day online purchases.

How to Save Even More on Free Shipping Day

If you waited until the last minute this year to do your shopping, don’t fret. You can still save a lot of money and get your gifts on time. Here are a few tips to help you save even more on Free Shipping Day:

  • Look for extra promo codes: Since you won’t have to use a free shipping promo code for many retailers, you can use a different coupon code instead. Some retailers even allow multiple coupons to stack on top of each other, like Kohl’s and Victoria’s Secret.

  • Shop sale and clearance items: Don’t forget to check out a retailer’s sale or clearance sections for rock-bottom prices on inventory the store is trying to clear out.

  • Don’t forget to shop with a cashback extension: Wherever you shop, make sure you are shopping through a site, such as Slickdeals Rewards, that gives you cash back for your order.

  • Spend a little time searching deals first: If you already know what retailer you are going to shop at, then do a quick search on Slickdeals’ forum to see if there are any hidden specials you would like to add to your cart. You can also install the Slickdeals browser extension that allows you to see a retailer’s coupons and deal posts conveniently while you shop.

  • Check for the lowest prices and deals before you buy anything by searching the Slickdeals app on your smartphone from anywhere.
