'Fox & Friends' guest calls out Taylor Swift, Alison Brie for political statements at the VMAs: 'They don’t have any viable argument'
Taylor Swift and Alison Brie got political at the 2019 Video Music Awards on Monday night, making their views known on the Equality Act and immigration reform, respectively.
“You voting for this video means that you want a world where we’re all treated equally,” Swift said during her acceptance speech for video of the year for her song, “You Need to Calm Down.”
GLOW star Alison Brie also chimed in during the show, calling out the Trump administration’s immigration policies alongside rapper French Montana while presenting an award for Best Latin Video.
“What’s happening to immigrants in this country is unconstitutional, frankly disgusting,” Brie said.
Fox & Friends guest Allie Beth Stuckey was not a fan of either stars’ comments, finding their opinions to be uninformed and unconvincing.
“I’m not completely sure what she’s talking about,” Stuckey said in reference to Brie’s comments on immigration. “It sounds like she’s taken some talking points from left-wing media. I’m not sure she knows what she’s talking about either.”
Stuckey also name-checked Taylor Swift, who in June posted a letter she wrote to Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander on Instagram that encouraged him to back the Equality Act, “which would protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in their places of work, homes, schools, and other public accommodations.”
“People, especially like Taylor Swift, the beauty and the charm of them was they were politically neutral. Now she’s kind of waded into these political waters and it doesn’t seem like they really know what they’re talking about. They’re not convincing anyone in the middle of the country or anyone who disagrees with them because they don’t have any viable argument.”
Several people on Twitter found Stuckey’s views on Swift and Brie to be off-base.
