The countdown is truly underway. We're exactly a month out from the November 19 debut of Netflix's Cowboy Bebop, the live-action adaptation of the beloved, neo-noir bounty hunter anime series that aired back in 1998 and has been considered a classic of the genre ever since. Just to give fans something more to be excited about, Netflix released a video called "The Lost Session," which serves as a two-and-a-half-minute standalone tale featuring characters from the Cowboy Bebop world doing what they do best.

The video hones in on Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) as they hone in on a potential target. The video is a complete adventure, complete with that iconic Yoko Kanno/Seatbelts theme music, fourth-wall breaking action, and a mesmerizing combination of winding camera work and a sleek color palette.

A tweet from the Cowboy Bebop account also let another important piece of information slip: an official trailer for the series is going to be dropping in one week. So there's just one more thing to get really excited for.

Anime adaptations have been polarized in the past, but the internet seems to be excited for this adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, and Cho's portrayal of lead character Spike Spiegel in particular. Ever since stealing the show with his role as "MILF Guy" in American Pie (not even joking), he's crushed it in every single role. That includes playing Sulu in the latest Star Trek movies, the Harold and Kumar series, and the excellent thriller Searching. Cho is one of the most underrated actors we have and it seems like Cowboy Bebop has a chance to be a great lead role for him.
