Fort Campbell to hold a memorial to honor 9 killed in Black Hawk crash

The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will have a memorial for the nine soldiers killed in the helicopter crash on Thursday, April 13 in Clarksville.

Last month, nine soldiers were killed while performing routine training when two HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crashed in Trigg County, Ky. The cause of the incident is still unknown as an Army aviation safety team from Fort Rucker, Ala. investigates.

A closed family ceremony will be held at Clarksville's McGregor Park on Thursday morning to honor the nine soldiers who were killed.

Following the closed ceremony, four Black Hawk helicopters will honor the nine soldiers with missing soldier formation flyover, an aerial salute that is traditionally done to honor fallen soldiers during a funeral or memorial, at 11:45 a.m.

After the aerial salute, a private memorial ceremony will be held inside the F&M Bank Arena for media personnel. Leaders from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade will be available for questions regarding the life and service of the nine soldiers killed, but will not be answering anything related to the accident.
