Activist and author Glennon Doyle is receiving praise from her thousands of social media followers after opening up about the difficulty of life after divorce, years after her marriage with her husband ended.

The woman who became known for her honesty about addiction, an eating disorder and her separation from Craig Melton — before re-marrying to retired soccer star Abby Wambach — is no stranger to sharing her unfiltered thoughts about the difficulties she faces on a day-to-day basis. However, her latest tweet, about co-parenting the three children she shares with Melton, has proven to be one of her most relatable.

“Kids just left and I was just thinking that divorce sure feels really hard and sad sometimes,” Doyle wrote. “Things can feel hard and sad and still be exactly right.”

Doyle’s 2016 book, Love Warrior, unpacks the harsh truth about the way that her nearly 12-year marriage ended after her husband admitted to infidelity, which led her to the love of her life, Wambach. Still, her tweet assures her readers and followers that even the decisions that are “right” can be difficult.

Now, hundreds of people are taking part in the conversation and thanking Doyle for shedding light on the struggle that so many divorced parents face.

Some even praised Doyle for providing such a good example of co-parenting alongside Melton and Wambach — who is endearingly referred to as the children’s “bonus mom.”
