Former Disney Channel Stars Debby Ryan and Alyson Stoner to Star in LGBTQ+ Horror Film, "Howdy, Neighbor!"

This is not a drill — some of our fave Disney Channel alumni are teaming up for an epic LGBTQ+ horror film. Written by So Random! star (and Demi Lovato's BFF, respectively) Matthew Scott Montgomery and directed by his former co-star, Allisyn Snyder, Howdy, Neighbor! is the crossover event we never knew we needed. The upcoming film has an all-star cast of actors that pretty much carried Disney Channel on their backs in the 2000s and 2010s. As one of the movie's stars, Alyson Stoner, puts it, Howdy, Neighbor! is essentially The Suite Life of Camp Rock with a Chance... except, everyone is grown up and there's much more at stake than their Disney-friendly friendships.

According to a July 2022 report by Variety, the upcoming film is set to star some of our Disney Channel faves like Debby Ryan (The Suite Life on Deck, Jessie), Alyson Stoner (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Camp Rock), Allisyn Synder (Sonny With a Chance, So Random!), and Matthew Scott Montgomery (So Random!). That's not all, other actors from shows like Raven's Home and Shake it Up! have also signed on for the project. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chamberlin, Tim Bagley, Shayne Topp, and Damien Haas.

You may be wondering how all these cast members are going to interact with each other in the upcoming film (We know we are!). Variety notes that it's a "screenlife" film where the footage will mainly occur on computer screens. The outlet's report included a synopsis as follows:

Former child actors playing former child actors? It's giving full-circle moments. When Alyson Stoner shared the news about Howdy, Neighbor! on Instagram, she revealed that some of the movie's plot points were inspired by real events. "I wish we didn’t all have real stories that inspired this," she wrote in her caption.

Has Howdy, Neighbor! started filming?

Variety reported that the movie is set to begin production in late July. The project is being financed by Watch the Footage Productions, which was founded by Allisyn and her husband, Dylan Snyder.
