After exiting the show, Jesse Lee Soffer is back to direct an upcoming episode.

Many Chicago P.D. fans were gutted when the news came out that Jesse Lee Soffer, who played Jay Halstead, was leaving the show in Season 10. Luckily, he's back–but in a new role.

Soffer is directing Episode 16 of the current season, shifting from in front of the camera to behind it.

As a treat for fans, the new director shared a few photos from the set on social media, captioning it, "Back at it. Just different :)."

In the first photo, Soffer, 38, stands looking at the camera while Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Detective Hailey Upton, is dressed in character, sitting in a chair and smiling. In Chicago P.D., Upton is married to Soffer's character Halstead.

The second picture shows Soffer in director mode, talking with Jason Beghe, who plays Hank Voight, and LaRoyce Hawkins, who plays Officer Kevin Atwater.

Soffer shared one last picture of everyone going over the script on set. Along with Hawkins and Beghe, there's also Patrick John Flueger, who portrays Officer Adam Ruzek in Chicago P.D., Benjamin Levy Aguilar, who plays newly-recruited Officer Dante Torres, and Marina Squerciati, who stars as Officer Kim Burgess.

The photo might also include Amy Morton, who portrays Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt in the series, although it only shows the back of the person's head.

Squerciati commented on the post, "He's soooooo good at it!" referring to Soffer's talent directing.

Jaina Lee Ortiz, who leads Station 19 as Andy Herrera, encouraged Soffer, commenting, "Go Jesse, GO! 🔥🔥🔥."

Chicago Fire's Daniel Kyri, also known as firefighter Darren Ritter, said, "Eyyyyyy 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾."

Of course, Soffer's fans were also ecstatic about the new images, though they couldn't help but share how much they miss seeing him on screen.

One wrote, "I cannot wait to watch this one!!!!! Director Jesse! Yes sir. We miss you IN FRONT of the camera ❤️❤️🥹."

In January, Soffer teased fans with photos of himself and a cute puppy, writing, "Made a new friend at work." Many wondered if he was on set of Chicago P.D. again.

Thankfully, Soffer shared much more in the new photos, and it won't be long before the Chicago P.D. episode he's directing airs on television!
