The OG “virgin” Bachelor Sean Lowe doesn’t support Chris Harrison’s exit from the Bachelor franchise. Sean is one-half of one of the franchise’s few success stories. He married his wife who he met on the show, Catherine Giudici, and they’re parents to their three adorable kids, Samuel, Isaiah, and Mia. But according to Catherine, Sean is refusing to watch Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette because of the Chris Harrison controversy.

“I’m watching it. My husband is kind of boycotting it because of the Chris Harrison stuff,” Catherine recently told Us Weekly in an interview, adding, “but I’m watching it this season to support the girls.”

Huh. That’s an interesting stance to take, tbh. It always baffles me when people seem to be more upset about Chris leaving the show after almost 20 years (with a reported $9 million payout I may add!) than him straight-up making excuses for racist behavior. But hey, we all have different priorities, I guess!

Even though Catherine is watching the show, she told Us Weekly in May that she also wants Chris to return. “I want to see him come back,” she said. “I think he will. I hope he does, because I know so many Bachelor fans out there rely on him to be the voice of The Bachelor.”

Catherine added, “Chris is a good base that everyone could kind of rely on.” Again, interesting stance to take.

Upon Chris’s exit, ABC released a statement including, “As we continue the dialogue around achieving greater equity and inclusion within The Bachelor franchise, we are dedicated to improving the BIPOC representation of our crew, including among the executive producer ranks. These are important steps in effecting fundamental change so that our franchise is a celebration of love that is reflective of our world.”

Chris was obvs a staple of the franchise, but it can still go on (and be amazing) without him.
