From food truck to restaurant: Pata Roja Taqueria opening spot in Court Street Plaza

A popular Cincinnati food truck is getting a permanent home.

Pata Roja Taqueria, typically located behind Bar Saeso, recently signed a lease for a brick-and-mortar space at 52 E. Court St. in Court Street Plaza.

According to a press release, owner Derrick Braziel and his business partner Michael Millay, CEO of Rooted Creative and former FC Cincinnati player, have already started planning the menu and layout for the 1,060-square-foot space, which is slated to open later this year.

“We truly feel our taqueria will thrive here, in a space that is so connected to the community,” Braziel said in a statement. “We see Pata Roja as a way to help bridge the gap between the Central Business District and Over-the-Rhine, bringing these two communities together through a shared love of good food and good company.”

The atmosphere of the new Pata Roja, which translates to "red leg," is based on traditional Mexico City taquerias with a unique Cincinnati twist inspired by the Reds. Like the pop-up food truck, the new location will also feature signature Mexican dishes, like the taco al pastor, marinated beef taco, seasonal vegetarian taco and fresh salsas.
