Food Network Host Katie Lee Biegel Reveals Her "No Dry" Turkey Recipe & Why She's Obsessed with Popeyes' Fried Chicken

Chef and cookbook author, Katie Lee Biegel, loves the holidays. The only person who loves Christmas more than her is her husband, television producer, Ryan Biegel, whom Biegel dubs “Mr. Christmas.” While Biegel has a rule to start listening to Christmas music on November 1st — which may seem a bit early to get in the Christmas spirit — Biegel’s husband loves to start even before Halloween. Biegel’s favorite holiday song is “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” but she refuses to sing for SheKnows, lest she risks suffering an anxiety dream about it once she goes to bed. Biegel’s favorite holiday movie is “The Holiday” — the 2006 romantic comedy starring Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black. Biegel claims to have watched the film “9 gazillion times,” and says that it is no coincidence that her daughter shares her name with one of the movie’s characters — Kate Winslet’s Iris. We asked Biegel to dish on what she loves to cook and what she prefers other people to make. “I love fried chicken. I actually love to make fried chicken. I just don’t like cleaning up after fried chicken because there’s a whole lot of oil and a whole lot of mess.” She surprisingly loves to order the Southern staple from fast food chain Popeyes. “That fried chicken sandwich is really so good!” Watch as Katie Lee Biegel shares what holiday traditions she loves and how she can’t imagine any tradition that people would hate. “I feel like traditions are traditions because everybody loves them!” Katie Lee Biegel contributes to various cooking shows and publications. She has appeared on shows like “Martha,” “The Nate Berkus Show,” “The Rachel Ray Show,” and “Iron Chef America.” She even hosted the first season of Bravo’s “Top Chef” back in 2006 before Padma Lakshmi took over the following seasons. She is currently the co-host of Food Network’s talk show “The Kitchen,” which has recently resumed filming. Biegel has written several cookbooks, including “Endless Summer Cookbook” (2015, also released in paperback as “Easy Breezy Eats: Endless Summer Cookbook”), “The Comfort Table” (2008), “The Comfort Table: Everyday Occasions” (2009), and “It's Not Complicated: Simple Recipes for Every Day” (2011). Biegel’s debut novel, “Groundswell,” was released in 2011, and was recently adapted into a Hallmark movie that was released last August and stars Lacey Chabert (“Mean Girls,” “Not Another Teen Movie”).
