LAFAYETTE, Ind. − The Food Finders Food Bank is offering a smorgasbord of courses to assist individuals wanting to enter the workforce.

A collaboration between Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette and Food Finders Food Bank created the Job Readiness Certification program, which will begin Oct. 10.

What is the Job Readiness Certification program?

According to the course's description in a release, "The free, four-week class is led by Ivy Tech career coaches and provides one-on-one assistance to participants on (varying) topics."

These topics include resume and cover letter drafting, navigating employment websites, interviewing skills, appropriate work attire practice mock interviews and more.

"Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette is excited to partner with Food Finders on the Job Readiness program that prepares job-seekers to enter the workforce with foundational skills and supports ongoing efforts towards a hunger-free community," Brooklyn Burton, executive director of Ivy+ Career Link, said in a release. "Program participants will meet with Ivy Tech Career Coaches to develop relationships and determine the right steps for their career path that match their values, interests, and skills.

"We continue to see the success of these participants through the job and resource fair we have at graduation. During this time, they network with employers, educators and community agencies to demonstrate what theyhave learned and take that next step in their career and educational path."
