Last night was the Vice Presidential Debate, starring Kamala Harris, Mike Pence, and a fly who took up occupation on Mike Pence’s head and refused to leave for what was probably about two minutes but felt like two hours.

This poor creature, whose name has yet to be identified and is currently going simply by “Fly,” ended up being the hero that 2020 needed—and naturally the internet simply outdid itself. Like, "fly" even started trending on both Dictionary.com and Merriam-Webster:

And obviously most people on Twitter spent their time making the same joke about flies traditionally landing on literal pieces of shit, as well as coming up with memes:

And meanwhile, whoever is in charge of Biden merch worked overtime to produce a literal campaign fly swatter:

However, the true hero of the night was the fly's PR team who truly nailed it for their brand:
