Florida man bothers neighbors by tending to his own personal Garden of Eden while buck nαked

Living in the vicinity of other people is bound to irritate even the most patient person. Maybe your neighbor plays her music early in the morning, smokes something that distinctly smells like the devil’s lettuce every night, or has regular loud fights with her partner at 2 in the morning every Saturday. Eventually, you’ll have to knock on the neighbor’s door or bang a broomstick handle on your ceiling in an attempt to rectify the situation.

But what do you do when the neighbor’s action is completely legal — for example, mowing and trimming bushes while being totally naked?

Neighbors in Stuart, Fla., are facing that problem. Despite calls to the sheriff’s office to report their neighbor doing yard work in the nude, nothing can be done. Indecent exposure is illegal in public places in Florida. However, officials with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office told Tequesta, Fla., local station WPBF-News that they can’t take any action against him because the man is on private property and is not touching himself inappropriately.

“I came out Sunday night to put the trash out, and I look over and he is bent over, winding up his hose, and I’m like that is my view of the neighborhood,” neighbor Melissa Ny told WPBF-News. “He works on his car, and he does it naked and everyone has called the police, he is just out there doing his yard work, whatever he needs to do outside, naked.”

“Have some respect for the neighborhood kids. Kids catch the bus here. It’s wrong,” Charlie Estes, another neighbor, said to WPBF-News.

Molly Merritt, who seems pretty chill, told the news outlet, “I am not one of those people who have concerns because it is their way of life, and it is on their property and I know it is legal.”

WPBF-News was unable to interview the sky-clad neighbor on camera, but not because he was wearing his finest birthday suit. The man was not interested in doing an interview because, according to WPBF, he and his family are private people. Makes sense.
