Florida doctor falls to his death in Ibiza while vacationing with fiancée : 'A beautiful soul'

A Florida doctor fell to his death last week while vacationing with his fiancée in Ibiza, Spain, according to the Staten Island Advance.

Dr. Daniel Sirovich "slipped and fell 82 feet" off a cliff during a romantic getaway to the Mediterranean island. The accident reportedly took place last Wednesday when Sirovich and 28-year-old Kristi Kelly stopped to take a photo overlooking the beach.

Sirovich, 34, was just 10 days from moving to Boston for a new job at an intensive-care trauma unit, according to a GoFundMe page created to raise money for his funeral. The page described the new position as "his life's ultimate goal."

Mary Ann Kelly, Kristi's mother, told the Staten Island Advance that Sirovich and her daughter were an "inseparable" couple. The two met seven years ago in Miami and had similar aspirations — Kristi was studying to be a physician’s assistant.

"They studied together, they lived together, they traveled the world together and their whole goal was to heal people," Mary Ann said.

Traveling abroad was a regular occurrence for the couple, who had recently vacationed in Greece, Portugal and the Caribbean. Sirovich even proposed to Kristi during a trip abroad, popping the question while the two were visiting Germany in 2016.

Tragically, it was a last-minute travel decision that landed Sirovich and Kristi on the Spanish island of Ibiza. The couple had initially planned on attending a music festival in London, but they changed course when the event got rained out.

Originally from Brazil, Sirovich studied medicine at Rutgers University and had most recently worked at the Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami.

"Dr. Daniel Sirovich was a wonderful member of the Kendall Regional Medical Center family as he spent three years here as an Emergency Medicine Resident," a hospital spokesman said in a statement Monday. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and all that knew him!"

Mary Ann also noted Sirovich's commitment to serving others, calling him "the most beautiful soul you've ever met."

"He wanted to save people," she told the Staten Island Advance. "It's all he wanted to do."

Mary Ann told the Staten Island Advance that the couple was planning to marry next year. She added that the two had been discussing wedding plans as recently as the Saturday before Sirovich's death.

"It's a horrible end to a beautiful romance," she said.
