Florence Pugh's Met Gala 2023 Nails Featured a Tiny Portrait of Karl Lagerfeld & Choupette — See Photos
Florence Pugh's Met Gala 2023 look was full of surprises: her freshly-shaved head, the feathered headpiece, and her cutout white Valentino gown, for starters. But anyone who got up close and personal with the actor got to see one of the coolest hidden details of her debut Met Gala moment: a teeny tiny portrait of designer Karl Lagerfeld and his cat, Choupette, on one nail.
Florence Pugh worked with manicurist Dawn Sterling for her Met Gala 2023 manicure, which Sterling said paid homage to the "beauty and edge that Karl blended so well." Sterling used Manucurist Paris products on Pugh, starting by shaping her nails into soft stilettos and painting them with Manucurist Green Flash LED Polish in Milky White, a creamy white to match Pugh's Valentino gown.
After curing and applying a few coats of color, Sterling then applied black crystals to the base of Pugh's nails and added a small portrait of Lagerfeld and Choupette on Pugh's ring finger. The portrait appears to be a small printout versus a free-hand painting, given it's rich with lifelike details, almost like a photograph taken straight out of an album. (Still, impressive!)
Once the manicure was perfectly in place, Sterling applied Green Flash LED Polish Top Coat and cured each nail for a shiny, long-lasting manicure with the coolest tiny surprise.
Milky white manicures are trending amongst our favorite celebrities, and Pugh wasn't alone in rocking one on the Met Gala carpet. Many stars stuck to a neutral nail at the 2023 Gala, including Doja Cat's neutral set paired with her infamous cat prosthetics and Sydney Sweeney's sheer nude nails covered in crystals.
With her statement-making shaved head and ode to Lagerfeld on her nails, we'd say Pugh definitely made an impact at her first Met Gala and can't wait to see what she does next year.
