UPDATE: Flames defenseman T.J. Brodie was released from hospital following today’s scary scene at practice. He’s reportedly recovering at home with his family.

Flames General Manager Brad Treliving will provide an update on Brodie’s status on Friday, November 15 at 11:45 a.m. ET.

Original story: Calgary Flames practice came to a halt Thursday when defenceman T.J. Brodie collapsed on the ice after an apparent seizure.

Brodie was taken off on a stretcher and transported to hospital. The 29-year-old was awake and responsive before leaving the Saddledome, according to Flames GM Brad Treliving.

'TJ Brodie experienced an episode on ice at practice today. He is alert and responsive and has been transported to local area hospital for evaluation. We will provide a further update when available. Thank you.'#Flames GM Brad Treliving pic.twitter.com/VQYqHw717p

The Chatham, Ont., native has appeared in all 21 games for the Flames this season, tallying eight assists. He has been a fixture in Calgary’s lineup since 2013-14, skating in at least 70 games in each campaign.

His status for Saturday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes is unclear.

Calgary sits fourth in the Pacific Division roughly a quarter of the way through 2019-20, and occupies the Western Conference’s top wild-card spot.
