At 44, Joanna Gaines is ready to share a new side of her story with the world. In a new memoir titled The Stories We Tell, the interior designer gets extremely transparent with fans who are rallying around the star following a special trip to NYC.

Ahead of an interview with Hoda Kotb on the Today Show, Joanna was all smiles as she thanked fans for all the support leading up to her book release with a caption that read, "I may have carried my book around like it was a little baby and got pics with it all over town. Today was a FUN day and I just wanted to say thank you for all the support these last couple of months leading up to my book launch!"

During the interview, The Fixer Upper star got super transparent about what it was like growing up with mixed heritage and feeling that she "couldn't find her place," but she was able to "see the beauty of both worlds."

Being the awesome host that she is, Hoda carefully dived deeper into Joanna's experience of growing up half Korean and half white. After getting teased in school, Joanna admitted that she never processed her emotions and buried them, so she didn't feel embarrassed.

"I felt like I was processing all of this alone, which now as a 44-year-old woman, I've realized that you've got to say this stuff out loud. You've got to rewrite those lies with truths. So getting to go back to those moments even in this book, I kept writing towards the six-year-old you see on the cover," Joanna explained as she pointed towards a young photo of herself.

After the interview, fans rallied around Joanna to show her support. "Thank you for doing what you do Joanna. Proof anyone who feels 'different' can make it," one person wrote on YouTube. "A wonderful conversation with Joanna Gaines - her story is uplifting and inspiring," said another. "Joanna didn't have to choose to share these struggles, but it's so profound, beautiful and helpful that she did," said another.

With this new milestone, the mom of five is looking forward to what the future holds for Magnolia and her family now that she is moving through life with a fresh perspective.
