First lady Melania Trump gets appropriately cozy with military kids in Alaska

First lady Melanie Trump, in office for about 11 months now, has clearly entered the ranks of stylish presidential spouses. Every outing, junket and journey by Trump is highlighted by whatever fashion labels or style approach she takes — and this recent extended trip around Asia is no exception. In her latest outing, however, Trump was on a solo leg without her husband, stopping off in Alaska to visit military families en route back to Washington, D.C.

Her attire was Alaska-appropriate, of course — she opted for a long, plaid Ralph Lauren puffer coat, a light but comfy-looking pair jeans, and Louboutin boots.

Rather than shaking hands with dignitaries and attending bureaucratic state dinners, the first lady spent her time on this visit squeezing mounds of Play-Doh with the children of military personnel at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. She’s clearly a pro at this, because apparently she did not get any of the bright pink clay on her pants.

She kept things simple, played with children, toured the facilities, and visited with families who live on the base. According to the Associated Press, there are nearly 30,000 Air Force and Army personnel and their families at the joint base station. It seems it was a fitting pit stop on the eve of Veteran’s Day.
