Firefighters work hours to put out a Central Kentucky fire. Barns, sheds destroyed

Multiple buildings were destroyed in a large barn fire in Georgetown Thursday, according to the Scott County Fire Department.

The fire happened at a property on Cane Run Road Thursday afternoon, according to Battalion Chief Eddie Waller with the Scott County Fire Department. Firefighters found barns, sheds and a single-wide trailer on fire when they arrived to the scene.

Nobody was injured in the fire. Waller said crews worked approximately six hours to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading or restarting.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Friday morning, but the homeowner believed it may have started from a lawnmower, according to Waller. The lawnmower was inside the barn where the fire initially started, and the barn was also full of hay.

Four structures were destroyed in the fire, Waller said. Five total structures caught fire.

The Georgetown, Franklin County and Harrison County fire departments assisted Scott County in putting out the fire, according to Waller.
