Fire alarm interrupts Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show' monologue
It was a first for Stephen Colbert on The Late Show when he revealed Thursday that a fire alarm had gone off during Wednesday’s monologue.
“Cheese it, it’s the cops!” Colbert yelled as he took off when the alarm sounded.
And what did we learn is the first thing to do in a fire? Check with the producers. At least that’s what Colbert did. He stepped out of the frame and can be heard chatting about the alarm and pointing out that there’s no smoke. Colbert comes back in front of the camera and declares that they will keep rolling, though Wednesday’s airing did not include the fire alarm.
The clip continues, with Colbert saying the alarm is sounding because his jokes are so hot. When they cut back to Thursday’s monologue, Colbert continued with the jokes.
“We later found out later that the alarm went off because Donald Trump’s pants were on fire,” Colbert said.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
