On your marks, get set, bake!

It's time to head back to the tent once again because The Great British Baking Show (aka The Great British Bake Off in the U.K.) is coming back for a brand new season. The best news? It's arriving incredibly soon!

The popular program has announced that season 12 (that's series 12, for all you Anglophiles) is finally on its way. For anyone who's turned to the show over the years to fuel their baking obsession and expand their knowledge of patisserie, breads, cakes, and beyond, you'll be happy to know that new episodes are just around the corner. The new season will kick off with its first episode premiering on Netflix on September 24, 2021. Yes, that means you'll get your fill of Paul Hollywood handshakes, soggy bottoms, and Star Bakers as soon as next week!

Last year, we saw Peter Sawkins, the show's youngest ever victor, take home the grand prize (the famed cake stand) and join the ranks of the many Great British Baking Show winners since the show began in 2010. We wonder what amazing bakes and show-stoppers we'll see in the tent this year! For everything GBBS season 12, we've rounded up all you need to know about how to watch it, who's in the cast, and what else you can expect this year.

When does The Great British Baking Show air in 2021?

Similar to last season, this year anyone in the U.S. can watch new episodes of The Great British Baking Show every Friday on Netflix starting September 24. Keep in mind that this will be three days after it airs in the U.K. on Channel 4, so you'll want to lookout for any spoilers before you get to watch it!

Expect 10 episodes this season, which means that it'll hold you over until just before the holiday season begins. Basically, it's going to be a great next few months.

Where is The Great British Baking Show filmed?

Although the tent is famous in itself, the show has actually had to move locations for the last two seasons due to COVID. Since 2014, they've filmed at Welford Park in South East England and prior to that, they moved between locations in the English countryside.

However, last year and this year they've pitched the tent at Down Hall Hotel Spa and Estate which is located in Essex, just outside of London. You wouldn't be able to tell because the tent looks exactly the same inside!

Who is on season 12 of The Great British Baking Show?

Rest assured that your favorite familiar faces will return for the new season. That means judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be back, and hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lewis will be there to make us laugh again, too.

As for the cast, you'll see 12 baking hopefuls enter the tent and join the GBBS family.

Just like every year, the contestants are home bakers who come from all over the U.K. This year, the youngest baker is Freya, who's 18 and hails from North Yorkshire, while the most senior baker is 70-year-old retired nurse and midwife Maggie from Dorset.

As for what they'll be baking—well, that's a mystery! Most seasons have the typical challenges such as bread week and cake week, along with challenging technicals and jaw-dropping show stoppers, as well as a few surprises baked in. We can't wait to see!
