I Finally Bought a BruMate for My Narrow Seltzer Cans and Only Wish I'd Done It Sooner

I was comparatively late to discovering the wonderful world of hard seltzer, considering it wasn’t until the end of last year that I first tried one. But on account of the 2020 pandemic summer, I’ve somehow managed to make my way to becoming a connoisseur of the drink.

From White Claw to Wild Basin and everything in between, I’ve spent this summer trying every new option at my local hard seltzer purveyor. What I’ve learned from drinking various fizzy beverages poolside (my new extracurricular activity) is that none stand a chance in the sweltering heat, and a can cooler is a must-have.

For some reason, it took me months to get around to purchasing my own BruMate Hopsulator—which is undoubtedly the can cooler of all can coolers. After hearing friends rave about them and seeing sponsored ads that mysteriously seemed to know my exact dilemma, I decided it was time to invest. Now, I only wish I had added it to my cart sooner.

I’ve never been big on drink holders and considered them more of an accessory than a necessity. Spoiler: I was wrong. BruMate isn’t your traditional foam holder, to say the least. With double-walled stainless steel and an extra layer of copper, it's designed to keep your drink colder than any koozie has before.

While BruMate makes options for standard cans, wine, and more, its Hopsulator is specifically meant for holding all slim-style 12-ounce cans. All you need to do is push the can in for it to stay in place and when you’re ready for a refill, the insulator’s twist-off top unscrews so you can easily remove the empty can. And it’s not just me who’s sold on the Hopsulator: Over 19,000 Amazon shoppers have left reviews for the best-seller and it has an impressive 4.9-star rating.

“Hands down the best can cooler,” one reviewer said. “I was drinking until 3:00 a.m. one night and I left a beer in one of these on my counter and when I woke up at 10:00 a.m. the next morning… it tasted like I just got it out of the refrigerator. Another day, tubing for six hours down the river in 90-degree sun and not a hint of my Michelob Ultras warming up. I bought the matte grey can cooler then I bought the mermaid bottle cooler. I love them both so much I ended up buying one of each for two of my friends so they too can experience the awesomeness of cold beer no matter how long it takes you to drink just one. It's worth the money folks, worth the money.”

Since purchasing my own Hopsulator, it’s quickly become my personal sidekick. I even put my skinny LaCroix cans in it during the workday before transitioning to a seltzer on the porch. It’s called balance, after all.
