BOCA RATON — The Florida Atlantic men’s basketball team said farewell to its fans Wednesday morning on campus as the Owls headed to Houston to play in the Final Four and possibly bring home a national championship trophy.
Students and fans crowded outside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena in hopes of getting to see the players and coaching staff and wish them a final goodbye three days before they play San Diego State in Saturday's first semifinal. Miami plays UConn in the second semifinal.
Before boarding the bus to the airport, FAU head coach Dusty May said he never gets tired of the fan support the team has been receiving all season.
“Show up, show out, get ready," May told The Palm Beach Post. "This is just the start.”

Besides fans, other sports teams on campus were in attendance, including football head coach Tom Herman and his players making their presence known. Herman was also present at the Elite Eight game against Kansas State and embraced May after the win at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Confidence has been a continuous trait in the Owls even when the rest of the college basketball world had its doubts. They believe a national championship will find a new home in Boca Raton, including May whose last words to the FAU faithful on Wednesday were:
“We’ll see you Tuesday!”
