There's a photo of Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde making the rounds that you've probably seen. I wanted to buy the photo to show to you, but Page Six owns the exclusive rights, so I can't. You can see the photo here. But I will happily describe it to you:

Two famous people appear with their un-gloved human hands (Styles's right; Wilde's left) intertwined. They are attending a wedding in California. Styles is wearing a Gucci suit with pussy bow-adjacent neck tie. They're both wearing masks. It's all pretty normal stuff for a wedding in These Times. But it's the hands—the hands—that have made this the preeminent photo on the internet on the first Monday of 2021. As Page Six proclaimed, this physical contact between two appendages confirms rumors that these two individuals are dating, obviously. (Important note: Wilde is directing Harry in her new movie, Don't Worry Darling).

But I don't care about those hands (Styles's right; Wilde's left). I care about Styles's left hand, specifically how he's carrying the glass in this hand. He's pulling off a number of tasks in this photo, which, again, I can't show you because Page Six owns the exclusive rights. As we've already discussed, one hand is occupied with Wilde's hand. But his left hand is, at once, carrying a glass, a book, and a small bag. The bag and the book are tucked under his arm. But the glass, filled with a tasteful two fingers of brown liquor, is balanced across his palm. His thumb gently holds it in place.

It's as if a painter placed it there to make a work more interesting. It's as if Styles—always aware of form, function, and beauty—knew the glass was merely an accessory to accent the Gucci suit. It is the way I would want Styles to hand me a glass of whisky if he were ever to hand me a glass of whisky. I really wish I could show you the picture.

Anyway, if you catch me at a bar, when this pandemic is said and done, this is how I will be holding my glass of whisky.
