'Rare' Ferrari carjacking: Police announce three arrests, still searching for one suspect in knifepoint robbery
Police have recovered the Ferrari's and arrested three people, but one suspect remains at large
Toronto police have arrested three people and are now looking for a fourth suspected after two Ferraris—one of them worth $1 million—were stolen at knifepoint last fall.
The police say they received a call for a carjacking in the Eglinton Avenue West and Avenue Road area on Sept. 30 shortly after midnight.
It is alleged that two suspects in a BMW followed the victim who was driving in their 2017 Ferrari F2. After the driver of the Ferrari parked their vehicle and walked home, the suspects approached the victim and demanded the keys to the Ferrari at knifepoint.
"The victim relinquished the keys and the suspects fled in the victim's vehicle," the police say in the news release.
Police also said that the 2017 Ferrari F12 was valued at $1 million.
In a recently released video by the police, the bright orange supercar can be seen travelling on an unidentified residential street ahead of the suspects’ dark-coloured BMW.
Although the carjacking cannot be seen in the video, police say the it occurred shortly after.
In another incident, a few weeks later on Nov. 6, the police received another report of a carjacking in the St. Clair Avenue West and Avenue Road area.
Police said the victim was driving their 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider and parked the vehicle.
“The suspect approached the driver as they were getting out of the vehicle,” police alleged in the release. “The suspect produced a knife, and aggressively searched the victim’s pockets until the key to the Ferrari was located.”
Police said the stolen vehicle was valued at around $300,000.
After an extensive joint investigation between the The Hold-Up Squad- Car Jacking Task Force and the Organized Crime Investigative Support Unit, four suspects were identified for being responsible for both of the carjackings.
On Nov. 22, 2022, three of the four suspects were located and arrested.
Samuel Wyncenty, 22, Beaudon Petrohelos, 22 and Elliot Raines, 24, all from Toronto, are facing serious charges, including robbery with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
Now, a fourth suspect, identified as Ryan Tyson, 23, of Toronto is wanted on a charge of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence in connection to the carjackings.
Tyson is allegedly also wanted in connection with another incident on Oct. 4, 2022.
Officers said Tyson allegedly evaded police and struck an officer assigned to the gun and gang task force with a vehicle he was driving.
Police also say that they have recovered both the Ferraris.
