What Fergie really thinks about Kate Middleton

After marrying Prince Andrew in 1986, Sarah Ferguson quickly became the new royal “it” girl.

Before Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle ruled the roost, it was Fergie and Princess Diana who captured the public’s heart – so the Duchess of York is in a unique position to reflect upon the ladies who have taken up her and Diana’s former roles.

Despite this, and the fact that she was noticeably excluded from Kate and Prince William’s 2011 wedding, Fergie has said she wouldn’t try to pass on any advice to the Duchess of Cambridge.

Revealing her true opinion of Kate in a newly resurfaced interview, Fergie told Parade.com, “I would never presume to give Catherine any advice. I think she’s doing an excellent job in her own right.

“She doesn’t need advice from me.”

Fergie’s words are from June 2011, a couple of months after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s extravagant royal wedding.

At the time, Fergie also spoke about how hurt she was, and told Oprah Winfrey that not attending the ceremony was “difficult”.

“It was so hard because the last bride up that aisle was me,” she admitted.

However, Fergie’s marriage wasn’t one to last, and she and Prince Andrew separated in 1992, six years after their big day.

The pair have now been divorced for much longer than they were married – 22 years in fact – but they still live together.

Fergie and Andrew, who have two children together, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are still housemates at Royal Lodge, in Windsor.

The Queen Mother lived at the residence for 70 years until her death in 2002, and Prince Andrew moved in officially in 2004.

Her youngest daughter, Eugenie, is set to say ‘I do’ to Jack Brooksbank on October 12th at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
