FEAR STREET Movie Trilogy Drops a Doom-Laden Trailer
Standing out among Netflix’s summer releases is the Fear Street trilogy, an adaptation of R.L. Stine’s second-best-known horror novel series. The Fear Street movies will release back to back, ostensibly serving as intertwined pieces of a whole; they’ll tell the story of the ominously named Shadytown at three distinct points in its doomed history. First: 1994. Then: 1978. And finally: 1666. This new trailer gives a proper look at the horror set to befall this suburban minefield.
Four years before the publication of the first Goosebumps book, Stine launched the considerably more mature horror novel series Fear Street. Distinct from his better-known franchise yet-to-be, Fear Street featured murder and sex, better endearing it to older teens. In keeping with the tenor of these stories, the Fear Street movie trilogy carries an R rating.
The first Fear Street movie, set in 1994, will hit Netflix on July 2. The second (1978) drops a week later, on July 9. Finally, we’ll trek back to the 17th century in the third installment on July 16. Here are the official loglines for each entry:
Fear Street Part 1: 1994 — A circle of teenage friends accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years. Welcome to Shadyside.
Fear Street Part 2: 1978 — Shadyside, 1978. School’s out for summer and the activities at Camp Nightwing are about to begin. But when another Shadysider is possessed with the urge to kill, the fun in the sun becomes a gruesome fight for survival.
Fear Street Part 3: 1666 — The origins of Sarah Fier’s curse are finally revealed as history comes full circle on a night that changes the lives of Shadysiders forever.

The trilogy stars Kiana Madeira, Jordana Spiro, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Hawke, Benjamin Flores Jr., Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Sadie Sink, and Emily Rudd, among others. Leigh Janik directs all three chapters.
