FC Cincinnati unveils Juncta Juvant secondary kit ahead of 2022 MLS season

For FC Cincinnati supporters awaiting a jersey fused with some of the city of Cincinnati's most recognizable symbols, your kit – that's a jersey in soccer parlance – has arrived.

FC Cincinnati on Friday unveiled the Juncta Juvant secondary jersey, which is named for the city's motto and bedecked in symbols that call upon the city of Cincinnati flag.

The Adidas-produced kit replaces the white "Heritage Link" secondary jersey that featured during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

FC Cincinnati on Feb. 18 unveiled its secondary kit for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The shirt has design elements that pay homage to the city of Cincinnati's flag.

The Juncta Juvant kit is FCC's secondary kit for the next two seasons.

In the immediate future, the new top will be featured in the season-opening game on Feb. 26 at Austin FC's Q2 Stadium, as well as in the club's March 5 home opener at TQL Stadium against D.C. United.

MLS clubs introduce new Adidas jerseys in staggered, two-year cycles. That means FC Cincinnati still has another year to play in its navy blue primary top called Dynamic in 2022 after it debuted ahead of the 2021 season.

On the field, FC Cincinnati will pair the orange shirt with orange shorts and socks.

Off the field, the club's fans can purchase shirts with the long-awaited elements that evoke symbolism.

Important features of the kit

Most notably, the new kit is almost entirely orange. Fans have wanted that for a long time because while orange and blue are the club's primary colors, blues and whites have featured far more prominently in past kits.

And while the new shirt constitutes the club's second attempt at an orange-themed kit, the previous orange jersey – a Nike kit introduced for the 2016 season in the third-division United Soccer League – wasn't nearly as orange as the new one.

On the Juncta Juvant kit, the only presence of blue is in the thin bands on the collar and sleeves.

Beyond the color, the kit is inspired by Cincinnati's flag, making FC Cincinnati the latest MLS club to call upon an official city flag for design elements.

Embossed across the upper chest is the central design of the city's flag – stripes (representing the flowing waters of the Ohio River) form a “C." Contained within the "C" is the FC Cincinnati crest.

A stylized version of the city’s flag is also located on the front-right hip tag (also known as a "jock tag") of the jersey. The jock tag design also will be featured on other FC Cincinnati retail items.

The neck taping inside the rounded collar features the inscription of the city's motto: "Juncta Juvant," which translates from Latin as "strength in unity."

Men’s authentic Juncta Juvant kits will retail for $135, while replica men’s ($90), women’s ($80) and youth ($70) versions will also be available.

The Juncta Juvant kits are available for sale starting Friday, Feb. 18, at 9 a.m. in-person at the TQL Stadium Team Store, northeast corner of the stadium, 1501 Central Parkway, West End. The team store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Fans also can purchase the jersey at forcincyforclub.com. To shop in-home delivery, visit MLSStore.com.

The first 100 fans who purchase a Juncta Juvant jersey at the TQL Stadium Team Store will receive a commemorative poster from the kit reveal.
