As 'FBI: International's Heida Reed Starts a New Romance, She Says, 'It Can’t Be All Work and No Play All The Time'

Special Agent Jamie Kellett decides it's time for a little play this week.
Remember the cutie—Hungarian Lt. Benedek Erdős (Miklós Bányai)—that Special Agent Jamie Kellett (Heida Reed) had a flirtation with in last week’s episode? Well, tonight Kellett begins to grow closer to Ben even as she needs to head to Morocco with the Fly Team when they're tasked with a case in which an American citizen goes missing after the commercial aircraft he's on that's flying from New York to Athens is grounded.
And when she returns, she and Ben share their first kiss.
What? You say! It wasn’t that long ago that Jamie and Scott Forrester (Luke Kleintank) were a couple and, it’s clear that they still have feelings for each other. In fact, Luke told Parade that he thinks they love each other so much, they just don’t want to put the other at risk.
“I think that’s true,” Reed tells Parade. “I personally believe they still have feelings for each other and I’m still rooting for them. Ha ha! Ben is lovely though.”

So, what is it about Ben that Jamie finds attractive enough so as to agree to have dinner at his home.
"He took the initiative,” Reed adds. “She’s too busy to pursue men but he makes it known that he’d like to get to know her.”
Even so, Reed shares that there are plenty of complications coming up for the two of them, but no spoilers.
Following is more of our interview with the former Poldark star, who talks about what she’s learning playing an FBI agent on FBI: International.
Jamie had planned to move back to the States, New York City, I think, in Season 1. [Showrunner] Derek Haas told me that it’s something agents do so that when they retire, they’re in the city where they want to live. So, if she has that in the back of her mind, what’s her thought on starting this flirtation with Ben?
I don’t think her mind has been on New York for a while. But also, it can’t be all work and no play all the time.
One of the humorous moments in last week’s episode was when Jamie was teaching the class on hand-to-hand combat and she broke Ben’s arm. How good are you at the physical aspects of the job? Could you throw a man that big?
Hah! Probably not. We have amazing stunt performers, and they work incredibly hard to step in for these shots and make us look cool.

One of the things this show is constantly dealing with is that it’s not about just catching the bad guys. It’s also about figuring out how to keep your job! Did you have any idea how political the job is?
I had some idea as the FBI is a government agency. I like the red tape in terms of story obstacles. They keep the show interesting.
What is playing an FBI agent teaching you?
Diplomacy. Not jumping to conclusions. And criminals can be very smart and go to extreme lengths to get what they want.
Having been born and raised in Iceland, is filming in Europe less of a culture shock for you than the American actors?
Ha ha! Maybe a little bit. There’s a form of bluntness in Europeans that may be a bit more familiar to me. However, I’ve lived in the U.K. for 14 years and I’ve adapted to a slightly different manner during that time.

How does this compare to Poldark? Obviously, it’s modern times and there’s action involved, but what about Jamie may be preferable to Elizabeth?
For one, Elizabeth’s clothes are a lot more restrictive! If she was alive in modern times, I don’t think she’d be a crime fighting agent but she’s certainly resourceful. They want very different things: for Elizabeth it’s status and security, for Jamie it’s serving a calling of justice.
