  • Kelly Clarkson is known not only for her music but also for her top-notch talk show hosting skills, as seen on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

  • With season two of her show on the horizon, Kelly posted a preview clip of what's to come, but fans were alarmed by the eye patch she was wearing in much of the footage.

Fans of Kelly Clarkson know to expect catchy (and powerful!) tunes, lots of laughs, and plenty of fun conversations on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The Emmy-nominated host has earned a reputation for her sunny attitude and killer karaoke moments, but viewers noticed a glaring difference in Kelly's appearance during a short preview posted to the show's YouTube channel last week.

Kelly sported a black eye patch in several scenes of the promotional footage, which caused fans to leave comments questioning her health.

"why is wearing a patch? i hope her eye is alright," one fan queried, while another frantically asked, "Has something terrible happened to her eye? Can anybody explain!? 🙏"

Others took a humorous approach to the situation, and asked whether she had become a seafaring pirate for the sake of the show:

"Kelly's a pirate now? 😂" one asked, while another showed excitement for the coming season by enthusiastically commenting, "Season 2 is gonna be great! (Also, what did she do to her eye???)"

However, according to other fans who commented, the eye patch was not hiding anything too dramatic—the singer simply had to cover up an eye infection during the week of filming.

Kelly made light of the situation in a brief clip with guest Dennis Quaid and joked, "Usually I don't look like a pirate." (Of course, he responded with a charming compliment!)

In a brand new video from season two's premiere week, Kelly explained her eye patch to her guest, Common. "First of all, I'm sorry I look like a pirate," Kelly apologized. "I hurt my eye and I have to wear it and so it's ridiculous."

The two went on to joke that she should continue the look for her next album: "I think I'm just going to make it my thing—this is my whole album. My next album cycle is this."

We're so glad it wasn't anything too scary, and we hope Kelly's eye healed fast!
