Much to the surprise of everyone, Kelly Clarkson showed up to her talk show in late September wearing a black patch over her right eye.
"I'm sorry I look like a pirate. I hurt my eye and I have to wear it, so it's ridiculous. You're being interviewed by a pirate today," Kelly joked with her guest, Common, this week.
She continued: "I think I'm just going to make it my thing."
What happened to Kelly's eye?
With NBC Los Angeles's "California Live," The Voice coach elaborated a bit more on her eye injury. Apparently, Kelly is allergic to dust, and when filming the newest season of The Voice, something got in there and caused mayhem.
"Maybe cut it, did something," The Voice coach told the outlet. "It got infected. It looked like Hitch, you know that movie?” Kelly relayed, referencing the 2005 Will Smith flick.
"When it first happened, it was so puffy and I was like, ‘What am I supposed to do?’ I had to shoot The Voice, a full day for, I think it was Battle Realities, in a patch and I was wearing all black ‘cause it was already the outfit that was chosen and I looked like an assassin."
So, how long will Kelly be wearing her eye patch? It might seem like a while, especially because Kelly filmed six Voice episodes with it on, and the episodes won't all air in succession. That means, the eye patch might come and go while fans tune into the new season of the singing competition show, which begins Monday, October 19.
Regardless though, we wish Kelly a speedy recovery and will update this post if we learn more about her condition.
