Fans Think Taylor Swift Revealed the Name of Blake Lively’s Third Daughter on Her New Album

Taylor Swift's new album, Folklore, is receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike, and the praise is well-deserved. The record is arguably her strongest in years: a stripped-down, acoustic return to form that feels instinctual, vulnerable, and nuanced.

Naturally, that means there's a trove of new lyrics for fans to dive into. Theories are bubbling up all over the internet about what Folklore's songs mean, and one of them involves Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. The couple, who are good friends with Swift, welcomed their third daughter last year but have yet to reveal her name. Fans think Swift spilled the beans on her new song “Betty,” and the evidence is there.

Primarily, it's rooted in the fact Swift says the names of Lively and Reynolds's two other children, James and Inez, in the song. “You heard the rumors from Inez,” she sings. “She said, 'James, get in, let's drive.'”

It only makes sense, then, that the other name in the song, Betty, is the name of baby number three. Twitter is buzzing about this:

Like most things Taylor Swift, this will probably never be confirmed or denied, but it certainly is a fun Easter egg.

"In isolation my imagination has run wild and this album is the result, a collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness," Swift said about the album in a letter to fans. "Picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history, and memory. I’ve told these stories to the best of my ability with all the love, wonder, and whimsy they deserve. Now it’s up to you to pass them down."

In a separate note, she wrote, "My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with."
