Fans think Miley Cyrus is calling out Liam Hemsworth in her new song with Ariana Grande and Lana del Rey

On Friday, September 13th, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Lana Del Rey dropped the highly anticipated music video for their new collaboration, “Don’t Call Me Angel.” The song will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska.

One thing’s for sure: The song is a certified bop and includes everything we expected from the pop trio, including Del Rey’s breathy style and Grande’s vocal range. The actor’s nickname for Cyrus during the course of their decade-long relationship was, in fact, “angel.”

To be fair, the song’s title and “don’t call me angel” line is an obvious reference to the movie and the fact that all the women are called “Angels.” However, it’s not impossible that the track, which lists Cyrus as a co-writer, was directed at Hemsworth.

On the track, Cyrus sings:

There’s also enough evidence on Instagram to prove he called her angel…all the time.

Regardless of whether Hemsworth inspired the song, it’s definitely the feminist pop anthem we needed. Charlie’s Angels hit theaters on November 15th.
