Diana was given the sapphire and diamond earrings on her wedding day.
Kate Middleton showed up for a royal engagement at Buckingham Palace with the President of Ukraine and First Lady Оlena this week, pairing her royal blue dress with a set of sapphire and diamond earrings that matched her engagement ring.
But take a look at Kate's necklace. If you're a royal nerd like I am, you might have noticed that it looks a lot like the earrings that were a wedding gift to Princess Diana from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia on her wedding day (the jewels were given to Kate by Prince William in 2010).
As reported by Hello Magazine, several Kate fashion fan accounts have pointed out that the stone in Kate's necklace appears to have been taken from Diana's iconic earrings:

Kensington Palace hasn't commented on the speculation, but I, for one, will be busy nerding out over this while I emotionally prepare for Season 4 of The Crown (which will be featuring Princess Diana!) to drop on Netflix.
