Camila Cabello Announces Romance-Themed Project

Updated September 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM:

Camila Cabello is definitely up to something — and fans are ready.

After a series of cryptic Instagrams sent fans into sleuthing overdrive, the singer-songwriter has turned up the mystery factor even more. In a video posted on Sunday, September 1, Camila is pictured with a locked gold heart across her chest, which is soon opened, thanks to a key that floats down. Inside, we see metallic cogs and gears, a spinning hourglass, a beating heart, and what looks like a palace that floats up from the bottom.

Before we can ask too many questions (and believe me, we have oh-so many), the words “Welcome to the world of Romance” appear on the screen. The announcement continues: “You are cordially invited to experience the first installment on September 5, 2019. Truly surrender to the drama.”

Naturally, fans are pretty excited — even if they still are confused as to what, exactly, Camila is releasing. “A CONCEPT. A SERVE. AN ERA,” one fan gushed, while another described the teaser as “next level.”

Luckily, we don’t have much longer to wait — September 5 is only days away. In the mean time, we’ll be trying to dissect every one of her clues as we get ready to “truly surrender” to the drama, and whatever Camila has in store.

Previously:

Things are happening with Camila Cabello, and no, we're not talking about the continued speculation regarding her relationship with Shawn Mendes. Fresh off an epic, and Joe Jonas approved, performance at the VMAs, the singer has shared a number of mysterious images to her Instagram.

It all started on August 29 when Camila shared three photographs of what looked to be an album cover that included a frame of some sorts. The cryptic photographs quickly sent fans into a speculation frenzy, and many declared that it was time — her second album was coming.

No new images had been added to Camila's timeline until today, when she added a short clip that featured her talking about what she knows and learned about love. The video has the singer walking through a number of outdoor backdrops, and she continues to explore what love feels like, admitting that she's learned a lot about love in her twenties. The video ends with Camila saying, "I thought I was making art before. Writing songs was me marking, but now I want my life to be the work of art and my songwriting to be the camera that I take a picture of it with."

The video features no explanation of what it might be tied to and whether a second solo album from the Fifth Harmony member is coming, but followers continue to believe that it's a hint of her upcoming work. "THE NEW ERA IS ABOUT LOVE," one follower declared, and another has already grabbed the tissues, writing, "I'm ready to get my heart broken ten times over and fall in love all over again!! i'm so excited for this new era."

It looks like we'll have to continue to keep a close eye on Camila's socials for more clues, but maybe we'll get even more hints of something when she performs on Saturday Night Live on October 12. In the meantime, we'll be listening to "Señorita" on repeat.
