Céline Dion is ready to return to the stage, but unfortunately, her health isn’t allowing her to do that just yet.

On January 15, the 53-year-old Grammy-winning singer announced in a press release that she is officially canceling the remaining 19 shows of her Courage World Tour in North America. Before the coronavirus pandemic first impacted the U.S. in March 2020, Céline was on a roll, performing a total of 52 shows. But in September 2020, she made the decision to reschedule the remainder of her tour to August 2021. Then, a few weeks before hitting the road, the “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” vocalist rescheduled the shows again to March 2022.

Now, these performances have been canceled altogether due to Céline’s ongoing health issues. “Recently [she] has been treated for severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing, and her recovery is taking longer than she hoped,” a statement from the press release read. “Her medical team continues to evaluate and treat the condition.”

Although canceling the shows was a disappointment, the mother of three looked ahead to the future with optimism.

“I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing,” she said in a statement. “I’ll be so glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage again. Meanwhile, I’ve been very touched by all the words of encouragement that everyone’s been sending to me on social media. I feel your love and support and it means the world to me.”

After reading Céline’s words, fans immediately flooded the Instagram comments section with heartfelt messages. “The important thing is that you take care of your health, we’ll wait patiently ❤️,” one person wrote. “We’re praying for your fast recovery. We can’t wait for your comeback Queen ❤️🙌,” another added. “That’s life, it throws us back sometimes. But I hope you remember that you will always have our support ❤️ Health always comes first 🙌 Wishing you a well recovery 🤞🤞,” a different fan said.

What’s more, several celebrities also reached out, like comedian Chelsea Handler who commented, “Sending you lots of love, Céline. We all know that you are stronger than a horse!”

In late October, Céline postponed her new residency at The Theatre at Resorts World in Las Vegas indefinitely. After excitedly planning for a November date kickoff, she was forced to delay production, citing the same health issues. But there is a silver lining for her fans in Europe: Céline reassured folks that the next leg of her Courage World Tour is still happening, which is starting on May 25 in Birmingham, England.
