When Haley and Hanna Cavinder announced their retirement from college basketball in April, they actively decided to forgo their final year of eligibility. Fast forward to the present, and one of the two has changed her mind: Haley has committed to playing one more year of college hoops at TCU.

Haley made her announcement on Instagram on Monday, while Hanna followed up with a post of her own in a show of support for her sister the next day. In the carousel of images, Haley sat in a throne decked out in a purple-and-white TCU uniform, while her sister wore a black sweatshirt with the team’s logo on it.

While some fans expressed confusion in the comments section, the majority were thrilled at the prospect of watching Haley play at the collegiate level again.

“mom just bought purple cowboy boots after seeing this,” Hanna quipped in her sister’s comment section.

“I’m all the sudden a HUGE TCU fan,” sibling Natalie Cavinder added.

“You in purple >>>>🥰,” Shawnee State University basketball player Carson Roney gushed.

“YESSSSS WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!!!” future teammate Sedona Prince cheered.

The Cavinder twins are known for not only their skills on the court, but also their entrepreneurial prowess off of it. They’ve benefitted greatly from the NCAA’s NIL policy, working with brands like Venmo, Gopuff, Boost Mobile and Six Star Pro Nutrition. Haley is currently ranked within the On3 NIL 100.

The twins spent their first three seasons at Fresno State, but entered the transfer portal last spring and played the 2022-23 season with the Miami Hurricanes. Haley will join TCU for the 2024-25 season.
