On October 2, the Today show cohost announced she was officially a mother of three boys with the arrival of her son, Russell James Fichera. The heartwarming news came a few days after the NBC News meteorologist shared that her water had broken six weeks early on September 28 and she was being monitored in the hospital, so viewers wouldn’t be seeing her on Today’s third hour “for a while.”

Over the weekend, Dylan introduced fans to her son, who the family has already nicknamed Rusty. Named after Dylan and Brian’s fathers, James and Russell, respectively, the latest addition to the family has two older brothers: Calvin Bradley, 4, and Oliver George, 1.

“I am so full of emotion and gratitude for this past week,” she wrote on Instagram. “God has blessed us with baby Russell earlier than expected but taken care of us the whole way. I couldn’t imagine waiting until November to meet him.”

The 40-year-old weather anchor also thanked the doctors and nurses at New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital for “making [them] feel safe and comfortable” and “never [feel] scared or worried.” Afterwards, Dylan was able to walk around, eat and eventually, go home but Rusty has had to stay at the hospital for longer.

“My heart aches having to leave here without Rusty but I also feel better knowing he’ll continue to be monitored and remain in the best hands,” she continued. “He’s THRIVING! Growing, getting stronger, eating and breathing on his own. Buddy, you have no idea what’s in store for you at home so keep on rushing and get home as soon as you can! We love you more than words could ever say!”

Without hesitation, the Today show star’s fans flooded the comments section with countless messages of love and support for Dylan and her growing family. “❤️❤️he is perfect!! I’m so glad to hear he is doing well. Congratulations!!!” one person wrote. “Best wishes and prayers for you all! Russell just couldn’t wait to join the party! Have fun!” another added. “Extra prayers of strength for Rusty to get home to you all ❤️ Congratulations 🎊,” a different fan said. “Rusty has an amazing family waiting for him!” a follower commented.

Dylan’s fellow costars also stopped in to share heartfelt words with her. “Get home soon Rusty! What a precious baby… and so many heroes in NICU,” Natalie Morales wrote. “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Sheinelle Jones added.

In his own Instagram post, Brian thanked everyone for their kind thoughts and took the opportunity to tell Dylan how much he admires her.

"His mother, @dylandreyernbc already went beyond what I thought possible a human could do to safely bring him into this world. I’m in awe and in love. Thank you for all of your well wishes and support."
