Fans Are Freaking Out After Rob Lowe Shares Never-Before-Seen Throwback Photo with Tom Cruise

9-1-1 Lone Star's Rob Lowe took to Instagram to post the ultimate throwback photo from the 1980s.

The actor, who achieved heartthrob status from his early roles in The Outsiders and Youngblood, gave fans a little glimpse into his previous dating life with a never-before-seen throwback snap. "Double date 1980s style! I think this might've been the premiere of 'The World According to Garp.' #TBT," read the caption. We were even surprised to see a few familiar faces!

Take a close glance at the gentleman on the left — it's not Justin Bieber (although the swooping bang over the forehead suggest otherwise). That's Tom Cruise before his iconic role in Top Gun or his smooth slide in Risky Business. Two 80s heartthrobs in one picture is enough to get this photo framed in our book.

And we're not the only ones. Fans were also quick to comment on the post, calling out how much they loved the never-before-seen photo. "Like a good wine, you guys have aged very well indeed," one person wrote. "OMG, a true TBT, love it," another said. "OMG, that's a classic," one commenter wrote.

Many were also trying to figure out who the two women are in the photo. If you remember, Rob dated actress, Melissa Gilbert in the 1980s, and they were the "It couple." The young lady by Rob's side is, in fact, Melissa. The actress known for her role in Little House on the Prairie took to the comments and said, "Wow...such babies we all were!"

Fast forward to present day and it's pretty obvious that relationship didn't go too far since Rob is now married to jewelry designer Sheryl Berkoff. The couple first met while on a blind date in 1983, but didn't decide to start a serious relationship until years later when they reconnected on the set of the movie Bad Influence in 1989. As a matter of fact, the two love birds recently celebrated their 30-year anniversary.

As for Tom's date, fans ran to the comments to submit their guesses as to who the mystery woman is on the left. The most convincing guess that we saw was Michelle Meyrink. She's a Canadian actress and starred in the 1984 comedy Revenge of the Nerds.

In the meantime, we'll be on the look out for season 3 of 9-1-1: Lone Star and rooting for Rob's character, firefighter captain Owen Strand. Although, filming for the new season got delayed due to the pandemic, we were happy to hear that the Fox show was renewed. Even though it won't air until 2022, fans are extremely excited to see what the drama series has in store.
