It took just one Instagram follow to birth a conspiracy theory. Yesterday, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy joined 182 million others in following Ariana Grande on Instagram. A normal activity, right? But fans jumped to analyze it, as Murphy only follows one other person on the platform—his husband, David Miller. Murphy's timing is also suspicious, as he followed her on the same day he gave an update about AHS Season 10.

Murphy posted a photo of the rubber man, a recurring character on the anthology series since the Murder House-themed first season, on Instagram."Coming soon…" he captioned the post, suggesting the character will be making an appearance in the new season. That's when social media began buzzing about a potential Grande cameo.

The theory makes sense. Firstly, Murphy and Grande worked together on 2015's Scream Queens. They were meant to collaborate again on his upcoming Netflix musical movie, The Prom. However, Grande reportedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Broadway's Ariana DeBose.

Secondly, Grande is a big fan of American Horror Story. "She was just obsessed with American Horror Story, like she was obsessed," Murphy told E! in a 2015 interview about Grande's casting on Scream Queens. "So I think she just met me to ask questions about the new season to be honest."

Not much has been revealed about the upcoming season, the cast of which was announced via Murphy's Instagram on February 26. If Grande joins the star-studded cast, her colleagues will include Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who are returning to the show after a hiatus from season 9, plus Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock, and Macaulay Culkin.

Then again, Grande could be involved in one of Murphy's many other projects, which currently include The Politician season 2, Pose season 3, and American Crime Story: Impeachment. But first? The release of Murphy's new Netflix series, Hollywood, on Friday, May 1.
