Police were called to Britney Spears' house this week after fans raised concerns following her disappearance from social media, reports say.

According to TMZ, the singer left fans worried when she announced on Instagram that she was planning to change her name to 'River Red'. Spears later deleted her account on the social media platform, prompting fans to reach out to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Although, notably, this is not the first time that Britney has deactivated her online accounts, telling fans last year that she needed a "little break from social media".

TMZ reports that law enforcement officials were dispatched to Spears' home to check if she was okay, but determined that she was not in any danger. However, the news outlet says it's unclear if they spoke to Britney directly.

Taking to Instagram last Friday to announce the name change, the mum-of-two said: "A bright one… easy does it!!! Thank you, childhood friend, I found my ball… don’t underestimate the power of purity!!!"

She went on, "I see right through it all… it has liquid and is wet… it’s playful and has mass!!! I changed my name to River Red!!! Yet the fire is where it illuminates… to stare at it and jump right in with no fear at all!!!! S**t. Now I have to find my FORK!!!"

The alleged incident comes shortly after Britney made headlines when she was accused of having a "meltdown" at a restaurant, reigniting conversations on how she is consistently hounded by paparazzi and the tabloids.
