Fans are begging 'Grey's Anatomy' to not ruin beloved character's story

Grey's Anatomy fans are finally getting the Alex Karev episode they've been asking for. Following Thursday night's episode, the hit ABC show aired a 30-second trailer for next week's episode, in which the show teased Karev's long overdue farewell. The nostalgic teaser comes after months of avoiding an official conclusion to Karev's storyline. Earlier this year, after the actor who plays Alex Karev, Justin Chambers, confirmed his exit from the show in an interview with Deadline, it was revealed that his last episode had already aired, and fans of the show were not happy about it. So, what were their reactions Thursday night following the new trailer? They are, of course, already sobbing. While many fans are just hoping they don't kill off his character, others are begging the writers to not "ruin his story." Chambers was noticeably absent from the Grey's Anatomy midseason finale in November. At the time, his wife Jo explained that he went back to Iowa to take care of his mother. Since then, it's been a huge mystery as to where Karev is and why he has not been responding to Jo. However, on Thursday, we learned that was definitely not true, when Jo broke down to Link, saying, "I think he woke up one day and felt the need to escape his life and me. I called his mom. He wasn't there. He'd never been there. He left me. And now, I can't breathe."
