Best family Halloween movies streaming on Netflix

Halloween is the perfect time to sit with big bowls of candy and popcorn and watch not-too-scary movies with the whole family.

Netflix has a haunted horde of kid-friendly Halloween movies streaming now that are less tricks and more like treats, from classics like Casper to animated favorites like Coraline. The spooky stories may give you a case of the willies but, hopefully, no nightmares on Elm or any other street. (For more grown-up scares, click here.)

Coco

Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated film takes place on the Day of the Dead, the Mexican holiday celebrating deceased loved ones. When 12-year-old Miguel is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, he must find his way back to the living as well as reverse his family’s ban on music.

Coraline

The LAIKA stop motion animated movie is a gorgeous, dark fantasy story that centers on an adventurous girl named Coraline who finds a secret door in her new home, one that leads to an alternate version of her life that turns out to be more sinister than it first appears.

Mickey’s House of Villains

On Halloween night, Disney’s greatest villains — including Jafar, Cruella, Ursula, Captain Hook, and Maleficent — team up to take over the House of Mouse and toss Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy out on the street.

Monster House

Home not-so-sweet home. When an abandoned house is taken over by a vengeful ghost, three neighborhood friends set out to do battle with the building and stop it from eating people.
