Exclusive SI Swimsuit Photos: Nina Agdal in Western Australia
The six-time SI Swimsuit model was photographed by Josie Clough recently in Australia.
Australian photographer Josie Clough and Danish model Nina Agdal recently teamed up to create some breathtaking images in Western Australia. Although the two had met briefly in the past, this was their first time working together. Clough, who is known for her captivating, fun and sexy approach to photography, has worked on four different occasions with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. She made history in 2019 as the first woman to photograph a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, capturing Camille Kostek’s cover alongside Lauretta Houston, who also photographed Tyra Banks’s cover that same year.
Describing her work as ”sexy, but fun … empowering women to be their most authentic selves,” Clough made sure to incorporate Agdal’s personality into her shots. Agdal has been featured six times in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, including landing a cover for the magazine’s 50th-anniversary issue in 2014. In an interview with the magazine, she expressed her admiration for Clough’s work and how thrilled she was to work with her.
The shoot itself was a quick and fun experience, with hair and makeup starting early to take advantage of the morning light. Clough, Agdal, and the rest of the intimate crew had wrapped up by 11:30 a.m. The photo shoot took place in Western Australia, which is infamous for its shark population, but that didn’t deter Agdal from giving her best.
The photos are magnificent. “It felt like I was shooting with someone who had known me for a while and understood my strengths,” said Agdal. It’s always great to see talented women come together to create some fantastic work. We couldn’t be more thrilled to share the stunning results.
