Exclusive: "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" Star Kiernan Shipka on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch"'s Aunties Cameo

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fans got the surprise of a lifetime when the original Aunt Hilda and Zelda from Sabrina the Teenage Witch showed up for a very special cameo for the show's final season, as hinted in a special clip that was released before it premiered. What fans didn't know was that it was only just the beginning between a very special crossover between the original show and the new series.

"Throughout the show, there have obviously been nods to be original. We would not exist without that original show," Kiernan told Seventeen. "People are so dedicated to the sitcom that paying homage to it in any kind of way that we could was always fun."

It's later revealed that Sabrina Morningstar is actually stuck in a different universe and she has to stop it from destroying itself as she relives the same day over and over again. While we all expected the big mastermind to be behind everything to be Father Blackwood, in a surprise twist, it's actually revealed to be Salem, the original cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

"I like that there are little links. I like to throw little nods. We owe a lot of our comedic moments to the fact that we are honoring the original show in a lot of ways," she continued. "That was just super fun. I always love like a little bit of a meta moment."

At least the show was able to give a major tribute to the original before it said goodbye for good with the end of the fourth season.
