Exclusive: The Bachelorette’s Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo Share Their Full Wedding Album

Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo’s wedding album is finally here. After getting married this summer in Cancun, Mexico, the couple reveals new, never-before-seen photos and details from their wedding day.

The nuptials marked the end of their two-year engagement following Lindsay’s stint as The Bachelorette on Season 13 of the ABC reality series. Despite the unconventional start to their relationship, Lindsay knew she found her soulmate from the moment she met Abasolo on the first night. “He said, ‘Hello’ and his name, then he spoke to me in Spanish and asked me if I had ever dated a Colombian man. Then he told me I was in trouble,” Lindsay tells The Knot. “I told him, ‘I looked forward to getting in trouble.’ We were hooked from that moment on.”

Over two years later, the couple became one of the few lasting couples from the franchise to wed, of course in a wedding where they were surrounded by their friends and family, as well as a number of Bachelor Nation alumni. The Proposal

Fans of The Bachelorette will recall Lindsay and Abasolo’s public engagement at the end of Season 13. “We had an unconventional engagement because we were engaged in front of national television with cameras, producers, and audio in the background,” Lindsay says. “The proposal, however, was unique and tailored to our relationship. Bryan poured his heart out to me and was totally honest, vulnerable, and sincere with me from the start. His proposal was dedicated to his love for me and the future he wanted to build together.”

The former Bachelorette also notes the significance of their two-year engagement and how that prepared the couple for marriage. “We were engaged from May 11, 2017, until August 24, 2019. It was a long engagement but we wanted to take our time to build our relationship off-camera and build a solid foundation.”

The Engagement Ring

In typical Bachelorette fashion, Neil Lane designed Lindsay’s engagement ring: a pear-cut stone set in a halo of diamonds. “The ring was something Bryan worked on with Neil Lane personally,” the attorney explains. “I gave him a bit of direction on the shape of the stone but he picked the pave band and color. Additionally, Neil Lane explained the importance of the pear-shaped stone as Neil’s mother had the same style ring.”

The Registry

During their engagement, the couple focused on strengthening their relationship and building their home together—and that included filling their registry with thoughtful picks that represented them as individuals and as a couple.

Given their active lifestyles, they opted to supplement their favorite activities with registry products that would be practical and useful. “The Vitamix is all Bryan,” Lindsay previously told The Knot. “Bryan has been wanting this and I said, ‘Bryan, we’re going to fill out this registry, is there anything that you want? He said Vitamix! That’s it. That’s the only thing he gave me: a Vitamix and the Crock Pot.”

The duo also chose to support a charity through their registry. “This is for my wedding, and I wanted to pick something that strikes a chord with me and… it means something to me,” she said of her decision. “Alzheimer’s is a disease that has affected a number of people in my family—either they’re going through it right now or it’s taken their lives. My grandmother had it, her sisters had it, and my aunt had it, and I was close to all of them. They won’t be with me physically to celebrate this day with me, [and] that’s why it was so important to give back to this charity because it has affected so many people.”

The Wedding Planner

Celebrity wedding planner Mikie Russo, who’s planned the weddings of multiple Dancing With the Stars personalities, along with events for A-list clients like the Jonas Brothers, orchestrated the nuptials with just six months to plan.

“My planning experience was effortless because I was blessed with my best man/wedding planner, Michael “Mikie” Russo,” Lindsay raves. “I just simply expressed my vision and he made it all come to life. I really have to give him all the credit. If we did not have Mikie, we would have been at the courthouse.”

“It was a given for me to take Rachel and Bryan on as clients,” Russo tells The Knot. “They’re kind, dynamic and so head-over-heels in love with each other. Did I mention—they’re also wonderful friends? I was thrilled and honored to be their wedding planner and enjoyed seeing their vision come to life.”

Rachel Lindsay’s Wedding Dress

The bride’s two-piece, hand-beaded Randi Rahm wedding dress held special significance to the couple. “To give you a little back story, Randi and I were first connected because I was immediately drawn to her gowns while I was the Bachelorette,” Lindsay says. “We established a relationship and have been friends ever since. It was important for me to have someone who understands me to design my dress. Plus, Randi designed the dress I first met Bryan in and the dress he proposed to me in, so it only made sense to have her design the wedding dress.”

After the ceremony, Lindsay kept her beaded top on for the reception, but opted to swap her tulle skirt for white satin shorts, also by Randi Rahm. She also traded her heels for flats so she could dance all night with her loved ones.

The Wedding Parties

Both Lindsay and Abasolo bucked tradition in favor of going without a wedding party. “We wanted a stress-free wedding and wanted to keep things as simple as possible,” she explains. “Our wedding parties were pretty much our bachelor party and bachelorette party attendees. On the day of the wedding, we had friends and family stop by our respective wedding suites to be with us as we were getting ready.”

The guest list did, however, include a number of Bachelor and Bachelorette stars. Kristina Shulman, Eric Bigger, Alexis Waters and newly-engaged couple Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt were all in attendance for the wedding weekend.

The Venue

Lindsay and Abasolo’s tropical wedding, which took place at Royalton Suites Cancun on August 24, served as the perfect bridge between both sides of the family.

“We chose this location as it was centrally located for our families to travel,” Lindsay shares. “My family is mainly in Texas and Bryan’s family is primarily located in Miami and Colombia. It was very important that we acknowledged this because we wanted to encompass both cultures into our wedding.”

The Design

Design company Grupo Gama decorated the oceanside venue. The wedding’s theme was carried out through tropical floral arrangements featuring, including palm tree centerpieces accented with white roses. Gold geometric decor pieces accented the tables while a palm-tree lined runner brought beach-inspired flair to the ceremony aisle.

The Ceremony

Both Lindsay and Abasolo honored their cultures and heritages throughout the wedding weekend—but this was especially the case during the ceremony. “For the wedding, we had my pastor, Pastor Bryan L. Carter, from Concord Church in Dallas officiate the wedding. It was important to us to have someone who personally knew us and counseled us prior to the wedding day. It was important for us to have the spiritual element to our wedding. We wrote our own vows as a sentimental element.”

“It was important for me to thank him for everything he is and what he’s done,” Lindsay adds.“I wanted to promise certain things to him in front of family, friends and God. Bryan’s vows were extremely heartfelt and they very much mirrored the sincerity and love he has expressed to me from the moment we met… The respect and love we have for each other and our relationship really shined through our vows.”

The Menu

Guests enjoyed a tropical menu throughout the evening. The appetizer, salad with mini fish balls, was followed by a choice of surf and turf or salmon. For dessert, attendees indulged in vanilla macaron, pastry cream and fresh strawberry napoleon, as well as the couple’s oreo and vanilla wedding cake.

The Reception

Once the ceremony came to a close, the newlyweds celebrated with their friends and family long into the night. The new Mr. and Mrs. Abasolo made a statement entrance to their reception as DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win” played in the background. “We always said we wanted a wedding where we are bringing two different families together and they are able to celebrate life and love and have the best time doing it,” Lindsay recalls. “When we reflect on the entire wedding weekend that is exactly what happened.”

After the newlyweds danced to “Fortunate” by Maxwell, the groom and his mother danced to “Mama” by Boyz 2 Men. Lindsay and her father, a federal judge, shared their dance to “Before I Let Go.” From there, the guests joined the couple on the floor for an evening of dancing and celebrating. “Our DJ, Sheka Booker, had everyone on the dance floor all night!” she says. “Friendships and connections were made! This was our favorite part of the wedding… blending our friends and family and that was based solely on our love for each other.”
