Biden wore the symbolic dress with a Gabriela Hearst coat during her first official appearance as first lady at the White House.
Time for a cool new frock.
Her white Gabriela Hearst dress included a really important detail.
Grab your diamonds and prepare to strut like a goddess in front of your exes because Annie Murphy is auctioning off the designer dress from her first red carpet appearance, and it is dazzling. The Schitt's Creek star shared her plans to sell the dress to the highest bidder on Jan. 21, and noted that 100 percent of proceeds will go to charity. "This was the very first thing I wore on my very first red carpet (the Canadian Screen Awards in 2015) so yeah, there might be anxiety sweat in the armpits, but there are pockets in the dress, so it balances out," she captioned an Instagram post. "I would very much like to sell it to you if you're in the market." The proceeds from the dress will be evenly split between two charities, including Encampment Support Network, a volunteer-run network that helps individuals living in tent encampments across Toronto. Murphy will enlist the help of her followers to choose the second charity (Canadian or American) to support. As a seasoned trend setter, Murphy knows that we shop with our eyes, but she threw in a few key details about the dress to make it even more appealing to potential bidders. Highlights of the elegant gown include: "It's black." "It has pockets." "It's made by evening wear brand Wayne Clark Designs." "It is sweaty in and around the armpit area." "It's a size 4." "There's a big ol 'v' in the front so your skin can pop out of there." "It's very nice." Interested in expanding your wardrobe to reflect a little more of the true style icon behind Alexis Rose? Anyone willing to donate a sizeable amount to charity can email Murphy at email@example.com. She'll only respond to the highest bidders, so this might be the time to gather up the gang and have everyone chip in on the most squeal-worthy of dresses, as Alexis might say. Take a closer look at Murphy's evening gown from the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards here. Related: Looking Back at Annie Murphy's Schitt's Creek Wardrobe Will Make You Want to Be "A Little Bit Alexis"
She *is* the diamond of the season.
From Parisian chic to kidcore.
Artistic director Daniel Roseberry said Lady Gaga's outfit was made in Paris just days before the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden.
The combination of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepping away from royal duties and the global pandemic has left us seriously craving Meghan Markle style moments. However, one of her go-to style essentials is perfect for times like these: her classic button-down. This wardrobe staple checks a lot of boxes. It can lend an air of professionalism, which is why it was a main feature in her Smart Works collection, but it also has a cool-girl, borrowed-from-the-boys look. Meghan has worn the white button-down everywhere from outdoorsy royal duties to charity galas. She has worn a sporty striped option to Wimbledon, as well as a classic design on a virtual call, just like many of us! Easy on, easy off, no fuss, no messing up your hair, and super comfortable - we've realized a button-down can be the perfect work-from-home look! One of our favorite retailers, Gap, is great for a variety of button-downs, from a crisp white pick to Wimbledon-worthy stripes. We've selected some great pieces for you, all on sale, for you to be dressing like the duchess in no time. The man's wife isn't speaking to him and people on the internet are on her side.
The flowers on Dr. Jill Biden's custom Gabriela Hearst look should be recognized as much more than just a pretty detail. When our first lady attended the evening inauguration celebration at the White House, Celebrating America, she tapped a designer she's worn (and recycled!) before. Gabriela Hearst created the fringe dress she wore to Joe's first presidential debate in 2020. But the specially made ivory cashmere coat, silk wool dress, leather gloves, and matching face mask she selected to ring in such a historic day are perhaps even more notable. You see, Hearst did not just embroider bouquets across all these separates because they're beautiful, but to represent the federal flowers from every state in the US. Plus, Hearst runs a sustainable company, committed to design processes that do not harm the environment. So, the blooms are also a salute to nature, which the new administration is dedicated to preserving. (Biden has already rejoined the Paris Agreement and ordered for a monitoring of the social cost of carbon.) The color white is also connected to the women's suffragist movement, just like purple, so Dr. Biden's co-ords were also a proud reminder that Jan. 20 marked a day of progress for women everywhere. Biden completed her look with pointed two-toned pumps, meant to accent the sheen of the flowers on her outfit. With both of her ensembles yesterday - including the Swarovski-encrusted set by emerging designer Markarian she chose for the swearing-in ceremony - Jill has reminded us just how much fashion can say about a person's values. Her style memos have been duly noted. Related: The Biden-Harris Administration Wore Historically Meaningful Outfits on Inauguration Day
