What happened during the season 1 finale of Warrior Nun?

Ava and the rest of the warrior sisters head off to the Vatican to try to get into Adriel's Tomb to his bones, which are said to give anyone the ability to control demons. In an effort to stop Cardinal Duretti, who is also trying to become the Pope, Ava uses her ability to pass through walls to get to the bones first. However, along the way, she notices that the tomb is filled with divinium, which causes her to question what is really behind the tomb. Once she's there, she discovers that Adriel is actually alive, despite word that he died after his halo was taken away.

Adriel decides to show Ava what really happened to him, revealing himself to be a demon and not an angel. After the warrior sisters use explosives in an effort to get Ava out of the tomb, they also give Adriel a way to escape and finally step out into the world. At the same time, Mother Superion visits Duretti, who was just voted the new Pope, in an effort to buy the girls some more time and figure out his plan. However, he is surprised to hear about what is going on, hinting that someone else is behind the plan to get Ava to the tomb.

Back outside, the warrior sisters face Adriel, but Father Vincent asks them to give him a chance to talk to him. It's revealed that Vincent was the one behind everything and he is a follower of Adriel, who tells him that everything is ready for him.

The warrior sisters, surprised by the betrayal, decide to attack Adriel to stop him before he brings more demons to Earth. After presumedly killing him and Adriel's reveal that he survived their attacks, they reveal that they were just buying time to allow Ava to recharge the halo.

Meanwhile, Jillian Salvius mourns her son after he disappears into the ark when it briefly opened, likely fueling her to find another way to make it work and bring him back to her.
