DC Comics brought Shazam! into their movie universe on March 25, 2019. Zachary Levi starred as the titular hero; he played an adult version of 14 year old Billy Batson. Whenever Billy said “Shazam,” he turned into that adult superhero with super speed, strength, and myriad other talents. In the first film Billy faced and defeated Dr. Sivana. And then each of his siblings received powers, so we hope to see lots of adorable Shazam! family antics in the sequel. Here’s everything we know about Shazam! Fury of the Gods so far.
What’s It About?
We don’t know much about Shazam! Fury of the Gods. When Levi and other other cast members appeared at DC FanDome in August 2020 they didn’t reveal anything aside from the title. Given that Mister Mind, as in the evil worm from the comics, appeared in Shazam!‘s credits, it doesn’t seem unreasonable that he’d be the foe. And since Shazam’s family has special abilities now, surely we’ll see them in action. We hope.
Who’s Behind the Scenes?
David F. Sandberg, who directed the first Shazam!, will return for the sequel. Writer Henry Gayden is returning to the world of Shazam as well for Fury of the Gods.
Who’s in the Cast?
Let’s talk about returning cast first. Shockingly, Zachary Levi will be back as Shazam. Asher Angel (Billy Batson), Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), Meagan Good (Super Hero Darla), Faithe Herman (Darla Dudley), and Adam Brody (Super Hero Freddy) will join him. As will Grace Fulton and Michelle Borth as Mary Bromfield; Ian Chen and Ross Butler as Eugene Choi; and Jovan Armand and D.J. Cotrona as Pedro Peña. Marta Milans will return as Rosa Vasquez along with Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez. On June 21, director David F. Sandberg shared a shot of his Shazam! Fury of the Gods cast decked out in their super suits:
Don’t know how long we can keep the new suits from leaking so here’s a pic I took the other day pic.twitter.com/41wStJ6oe2

Lucy Liu is playing the goddess Kalypso, a villain. As is Helen Mirren, playing Hespera. We got a good look at the duo in a behind-the-scenes video at DC FanDome.
Additionally, Helen Mirren shared that Rachel Zegler would play a third goddess in the film. But who exactly is still unknown. Zegler confirmed the news on her twitter.

When Will It Arrive?
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently scheduled for June 2, 2023. Given how much the pandemic has affected release dates, this very well could change. We’ll note any changes here.
